We were as sheep that went astray;
We all had turned to our own way.
Transgression seemed a righteous path;
We did not know the end was death.

But grace revealed a narrow gate,
A way of hope and free escape.
Christ is the door unlocked by faith;
He is the true and living way!

Now we are people of the way;
We follow Jesus, come what may.
He is our death and He is our life!
We are the people of the way!

Our Savior walked the road for us
In perfect, full obedience.
And now we look to Him who ran
The race of faith from start to end.

“Come after Me,” He beckons us,
“And follow in My righteousness.”
Forgetting all our past behind,
We onward press to win the prize!

The Sacred Text marks out the way
We journey as a people saved.
The world behind, the cross before;
Our lives confess that He is Lord.

We do not fear to live or die,
So here we stand— Christ, only Christ!
And though our step is often weak,
The Church of Christ will not retreat!
