My soul is thirsty for Jehovah
Like a deer that pants for water.
O living God, I long to see You.
When shall I see Your face?
Lord, I seek Your presence.
My tears have been my sole provision
In the day and in the nighttime.
My adversaries jeer and taunt me.
“Where is your God?” they say.
Lord, I need Your comfort.
With joyful thoughts I can remember
How we worshiped You together
With shouts of joy and loud thanksgiving
Within the house of God.
Lord, we love Your dwelling.
The Lord commands His lovingkindness;
In the night His song is with me—
A pray’r unto my life’s Defender.
My God is by my side.
Lord, I know You’re with me.
Although my soul despairs within me
And the waves of dread surround me,
I’ll hope in God and praise my Maker.
Expectantly I wait—
Lord, I trust You always.
